So those wonderful holidays I was so excited for were just awesome. So awesome I haven't posted in a while. Christmas break was so busy. My brother and future sister-in-law visited and we had such a laid back visit. C had his first ear infection which was an adventure. The poor little guy had never been sick until then so we were all overwhelmed and sleep deprived while trying to get our little guy better. But he is a champ and was able to make a fast recovery. His daddy was pretty great as well. He stayed up with him on the tough nights so that I could rest. I'm a lucky girl in that department. Not only did I get a good one, but C did, too! We went to LR for a Christmas visit and had a blast. After all that activity we were happy to get back home and had a few days to settle back into our routine before it was back to the grind January 4. Needless to say it's been crazy, but a good crazy. Now back to the pregnancy update:
How far along: 26 weeks and 1 day
Maternity clothes: Yes. The stretchy stuff is just more comfy. My belly has popped for sure and leggings remain my best friend.
Stretch marks: Nope, but I have my shea butter!
Sleep: I am sleeping on both my left side and propped up on pillows. I usually end up hunkered down from my pillow fortress or really close to being on my belly. This stomach sleeper is really excited to get back to sleeping on her stomach!
Best moment last week: C has turned into a major cuddle bug. We have our routine before bedtime which is very special. Right before he goes to he rolls over and puts his head on my shoulder. It's such a sweet moment when I think I'm snuggling with my two babies. I feel pretty lucky in that moment and that life is pretty grand.
Movement: The girl can move. She loves to kick and will respond to J when he tells her hello. C can get a bit rough crawling over me, but it seems like the girl can hold her own. She kicks back! I guess it starts now. Since my belly is growing and a bit more prominent C will come up to me and poke my belly. We try to explain to him that sissy is in there, but I think he has more fun playing with my belly button.
Food cravings: I had a major sugar craving around the holidays. I think it's because I was having more sweets than usual and little miss got a taste of the good stuff. After working to lose the AHEM 50 pounds I gained with C, I've really tried to be healthful in my food choices. And that's not easy when there's Nutella around. I've been loving the fresh berry cups from Whole Foods and recently started eating it with KIND granola. It makes me feel like I'm giving her the good stuff she needs. I've been training for my glucose test so I've been drinking green smoothies for breakfast in an effort to get a good dose of iron. I didn't have time to make one one school day and spent the day not feeling so good. I'm hoping my body starts craving them because that would be a habit I'd love to keep up after birth.
Gender: GIRL
A friend gave us some pink gear that is just adorable. She is going to be so snuggly and cute.
Labor signs: Zilch, thank goodness.
Belly button - in or out? Out. As previously stated, C has taken notice and thinks its a button he can press whenever he pleases.
What I miss: We have had some winter weather and even got some snow/ice. We went outside pulled C around on a boogie board. J did a little ice daredevil boarding. I was the photographer and was very careful not to slip on the ice. I would have loved to go slip and slide on the ice, but safety first!
What I am looking forward to: Getting started on prepping her room and planning C's 2nd birthday. We have done nothing to get her room ready. It is still crammed with leftover Christmas decorations and odds and ends. We are in process of picking bedding and getting ready for another crib in the house. If we get it done by the time she gets here great if not, that's ok! It's amazing how much more relaxed I am about getting stuff done with number 2. Not that it's not important, but just that a perfectly decorated room will not make or break the child's development. It will all get done and it will be great. C's birthday is coming up so we are also discussing what to do for that. It will not be as much as a production as his first birthday, but I'm looking forward to making it special for him. After we celebrate him turning 2 we just sit back and wait to meet little girl!
Milestones: My BP got a little on the high side and they did some tests to check for pre-eclampsia. It was a little stressful to think that I could go on bed rest this early. Fortunately the tests came back negative. It was a good wake up call to not take work so seriously and make sure I'm making good food choices and exercising. J reminds me to remember that I need to stop and not try to do everything. Learning to stop is a tough lesson, but it beats bed rest any day!
I went to the doc this past Tuesday and took my glucose test. Everything looks good. Baby measuring perfectly and heartbeat sounds great. Hard to believe that it's flying by so fast. She will be here before we know it and a new adventure as the Williams Four will begin!
