Let Christmas Break Begin!
I am so excited that December 21st is here! Some are patiently awaiting December 25th, but today was the day I have been looking forward to. Yesterday was the last day of school in the year 2011. It has been a very interesting and fun year in 1st grade. We read the Gingerbread Baby and made paper gingerbread men. Then I lost my mind and had them make gingerbread houses. We used graham crackers, white icing, lots of chocolate chips, M&Ms, licorice, dots, and peppermints. The kids did a great job and the houses were super cute. Jeremy came to bring the kids ice cream sandwiches and enjoyed getting to know a few of the characters that he hears so much about. It was a fun, but long sugar filled day. When that bell rang I got those kiddos to the bus and hightailed it out of the building. Many teachers stayed to finish up lesson plans and prepare for the week we return, but I just couldn't do it. I was exhausted and a little swollen around the ankles. So today I did the unthinkable and went to school on the first day of vacation. The horror! I had a pretty big mess to clean up, lessons plans to complete, and some other tasks to take care of. I was able to work without being distracted and it only took two hours. Then, at last, Christmas Break was ready to begin. After running a few last minute errands I made it home to relax on the couch. I made the most of my day by propping my feet up, wrappng some presents, and doing nothing.
The break will be busy. We have a doctor's appointment tomorrow and Christmas with Jeremy's mom and stepdad. Then we will fly to Arkansas on Friday. I'm looking forward to spending the week with my family and friends. After we get back we will spend some time getting ready for Poppyseed. Lots to do, but it will all get done (hopefully). This break is going to go fast because it always does. But I plan on making the most of it by spending with the special people in my life and enjoying almost 2 weeks of no schoolwork. Merry Christmas ya'll!!

1st, 2nd, 3rd Trimester Boy Oh Boy!!
As I type this little Poppy is happily kicking. Well it is here: the final trimester and February is just around the corner. I can describe the feeling in one word- whoa! The belly is hard to miss now. People can now ask with confidence "when are you due?" and not fear they just accidentally called me fat. People are so nice to pregnant ladies. I especially enjoy the sign of peace at church. People will say peace be with you and your little one. It makes me happy.
Overall I'm still feeling pretty good. I'm hungry all the time and trying to eat healthy. But sometimes a girl needs chocolate. Food continues to taste awesome while preggo. I have some back pain, swollen extremities, and have kissed any shoe with a heel goodbye. Shoe selection is tough due sausage toes and feet. Thankfully the weather has allowed sandals to worn often. However I feel that come January it will not matter if there is snow on the ground or not. I will be living in my croc flip flops. School dress code be damned!! Comfort trumps the no flip flop rule. I have to use the restroom all the time. It is quite annoying. I have to strategically plan bathroom trips at school since I only have a part time teacher assistant and can't leave the kids unattended. The other day a coworker told me I was waddling. I quickly informed her that I had to use the restroom and continued "waddling" down the hall to the restroom. Afterwards I went to show her how I don't waddle all the time. Thank you very much.
The kids at school are very concerned about making sure the baby is drinking enough water and feeling good. They talk to him and tell him that they love him. Pretty cute I tell you.
Some days the fatigue really sets in at school because those "cute kids" can be exhausting. I feel myself getting behind with paperwork and tasks. I often get frustrated with not being able to do as much or move a quickly as I used to. It's hard to let school work go when I'm exhausted because I want to get it done. I'm a Crow and I was taught to power through until the job is done. Learning to take care of myself and listen to when I need to stop has been a challenge. Fortunately I have a persistent voice telling me to "sit down" and "stop!!"
Speaking of Jeremy I have to brag on him. He is doing an awesome job taking care of me. He has gone above and beyond. The other day he stopped in at school to bring a chik fil a surprise. He also is quick to rub my sore back and makes me feel pretty on the fat days. I am a lucky girl to have such a sweet husband.
I had my glucose test before thanksgiving and it came back fine. The doctor said that the heartbeat sounds good. Little Poppy loves to kick in the evening. I spend more time watching his kicks than watching tv. Sometimes we play a game. I put he remote on my belly and watch him try to kick it off. It is so funny and I love it. Jeremy read him Where is Spot the other night and we are pretty confident that he will be a genius.
Baby furniture has been ordered, bedding is here, baby clothes are in the closet but we are in no way ready. We will begin classes after Christmas, paint the nursery, make maternity leave arrangements, and do about a million other things between now and February. It's a lot but it is more real than ever. Ready or not!! It will be here before we know it. It will be a huge but wonderful life change. It will be awesome and I can't wait to meet this person that I am already in love with.
