Mexico
We recently spent a long weekend in Cancun. A large group of us went to Excellence Playa Mujeres. Jeremy and I went there for our honeymoon and loved it so much that we were eager to return. When we booked in May the expectations for the trip were slightly different than when we actually went in November. Neither one of us expected me to be pregnant. We weighed the options of cancelling and going for most of July. I was a bit nervous going in such a large group of nonpregnant people. What if everyone is having a great time and I'm the lame girl sipping water? What if I am left out of all the fun? What if something goes wrong while we are there? How will I look in bathing suit? We talked to the doctor and got the ok to travel---just don't drink the water (duh!). We surveyed friends. Some said not to go because it would not be as much fun. Some said they wished they had gone on a trip before they began having kids. Jeremy was eager to go so that we could have one last hurrah. I informed him that my last hurrah was July 4th...the day before I found out I was pregnant. After many long talks and many promises of good Mexican times and a trip to the onsite spa we decided to go. And, I must say, that I am glad that we went. I was breaking my neck to prepare for a sub and tie up loose ends at school up until the last minute. It was then that I realized that I was totally overwhelmed with work and a vacation from it all was desperately needed.
We went with 4 other couples. Everyone got along great the entire time. The weather was not always perfect, but with all the guacamole a pregnant girl could want at my beckon call who cares if the sun's out!?! We saw rain and sunshine. The water was a bit cool, but the ocean, resort, and surroundings were just beautiful. It was just as wonderful as we remembered. We even saw my favorite bartender from our last visit. I am certain that he thinks I am a crazy stalker. We ate at some yummy restaurants and got our fill of the all-inclusive experience. I am talking appetizers, entrees, and desserts at practically every meal. I felt the need to get my money's worth. The prenatal massage at the spa was AWESOME!! I got to lay on my stomach which was a great treat for this stomach sleeper. I relaxed by the pool and ocean with a book, got some walks in on the treadmill, took some great naps on the balcony, laughed with our friends, and most of all enjoyed spending time with Jeremy. The final night we were there the group went to the onsite DISCOTECA. Since we recommended the vacation destination Jeremy and I felt the need to get the party started with a karaoke version of Ice Ice Baby. Let's just say it was awesome and Jeremy did the worm. After we warmed up the crowd the our group took over the club (seriously there were about 30 other people in there) and danced the night away. I could definitely feel my body's limits. I can't break it down as much as I usually do, but I still impressed with my smooth moves. No one expected this baby mama to show them how to do the Beyonce Put A Ring On It dance. I even dipped behind the bar for a bit to mix a few drinks for my fellow club goers. Pregnant women make great bartenders, just ask me, All in all it was a great trip. Everyone is already talking about going back next year. I have already announced that the Williams will not be going, but we are looking forward to Excellence 2013.
